Unum Group is thrilled to again receive the Best Employers: Excellence in Health and Well-being Award.

The Best Employers Award by the National Business Group on Health recognizes companies for their commitment to advancing employee well-being through comprehensive, innovative benefits and initiatives. This award evaluates companies on their leadership, culture and well-being strategy; holistic well-being; engagement and employee experience; health equity; and metrics and evaluation.

At Unum Group, we are committed to supporting the entire employee – physically, emotionally, financially and professionally. We’ve worked to curate a suite of benefits and resources that meet our employees’ needs—no matter where they are in life. There is not a one-size-fits-all employee well-being approach, so ensuring we are looking at the whole person and the varying needs of our workforce has been key to our success in this space.

When employees come into the office, they have access to a number of amenities aimed at supporting their mental and physical health. For example, across all our campuses, we have renovated onsite gyms, with updated cardio equipment, and spin and yoga classes available throughout the week. Employees are able to use the gym any time and if they visit at least 8 times a month (virtually or in-person), their membership is reimbursed on a quarterly basis.

In addition to the fitness center, we have other onsite resources including meditation rooms, walking workstations and lactation rooms. Employees can also utilize our BeWell healthy dining program, which provides freshly prepared, nutritious and healthy meals while saving money. BeWell recipes are 500 calories or less with less than 500mg of sodium and less than 5 grams of saturated fat. Employees can also place orders online for prepared dinners for families of two-four. This benefit is complemented by access to a registered dietician who can assist with following healthy eating habits.

Along with supporting employees' physical health, we offer a number of mental and behavioral health resources as well. This includes onsite counseling services, Unum Behavioral Health, a digital solution available to all employees at no cost, certified peer-to-peer mental health support, and more. And it doesn’t stop there. We offer child and adult dependent back-up care support, pet care, financial wellbeing programs and foster plenty of opportunities for connection to encourage social wellbeing.

Our mission is to help the working world thrive, and that starts right here with our own workforce.
