Emily Downing

Director, External Communications

Emily Downing currently serves as Director, External Communications for Unum Group, where she helps shape the company’s media relations strategy and provides holistic communications counsel to Unum’s executives and senior leadership. An experienced strategic communications professional in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, and across multiple industries, Downing pairs her authentic approach with her passion for storytelling to develop effective communications strategies that drive meaningful results. 

Outside of Unum Group, Downing serves on the Board of Directors for Maine’s Make-a-Wish chapter and is a member of the Maine Public Relations Council. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing field hockey, and honing her skills as a not-so-professional home chef.
